Elsevier Secure Browser for EAB

This page features step by step instructions on how to download and run the Elsevier Secure Browser to ensure you are ready to take an Elsevier Assessment Builder test.

Accessing your assessment

1. Log into EAB

2. Under My Course Plan, click on the the name of the assessment you would like to complete.

3. Once you’ve selected an exam, you will be taken to the exam launch page, which will include assessment details, instructions, and a system readiness check. 

System Readiness Check

  1. To check if your device is ready for the secure browser, our system will automatically run a readiness check in the background, as soon as you enter the exam launch page.  

    • To recheck that your device is ready for the exam, simply reload the page.

    • If your device is not compliant, there will be an orange or red pop-up telling you what you need to do. If you need detailed information on your device, expand the “device requirements” section. (see image below)

NOTE: Chromebooks, Android, and iOS are not currently supported. Use a MacOS or Windows device to take a secure exam.

Elsevier Secure Browser Install + Launch

  1. Click ‘Check system & begin assessment’ to open the secure browser and launch the exam.

  2. If you have already installed Elsevier’s Secure Browser, you will see a browser-specific pop-up. Click “Open Elsevier Secure Browser.app”

  3. If you are not prompted to open the secure browser, or you have not downloaded it to this device before, click ‘Download the Elsevier Secure Browser.app file’ under “Steps to ready your device.” Directions to download are specific to Windows and Mac users.

 

If you are on a windows device, once the download window appears, select “Save File” and save the application to your device. 

If you are on a Mac device, drag and drop the Secure Browser icon into your applications folder.

  1. Once the download is complete, navigate to the ‘ElsevierSecureBrowser’ file on your device (likely in your downloads or desktop folder) to install.

  1. Once the install is complete, return to your exam launch page and click ‘Check system & begin assessment’ to open the secure browser and launch the exam. 

NOTE: When you enter the exam, the tool blocks access to all other applications to secure your questions and answers. You can take the exam one time only.

Launch Your Exam

Once the secure browser is launched, you will be prompted to enter an access code  

  1. The access code will be provided by your instructor/proctor  

  2. Once the code is entered, you will be able to launch the exam 

NOTE: You will not be able to make any changes to your exam once it is submitted.
